Much more Malfoy!

Tom Felton`s semi-official website (for promoting his music mostly) is sounding off about what we should expect from the new Harry Potter film. Moviefone interviews him and it seems that not only is he grown as an actor but has demonstrated to be quite a charming young man with some semblance of wit and intelligence until a great deal of his American counterparts.

Ugh! Did that sound like I do websites for advertising or what?

It gets extra marks for pointing out that Broadbent had worked with Felton before playing his dad in the little seen and under-rated The Borrowers.

And check out the new photo of Tom on the right... looking pretty HOT there Tom!

Harry Potter: Atheist

As if a large portion of America's fundamentalist isn't already threatened by the mere existence of Harry Potter books and movies, it's probably not going to help matters much that the star of the movies has come out as an atheist in Esquire magazine.

During the interview while discussing his frankness after expressing his unwillingness to see Michael Jackson's concert (this was before his death) after being invited, actor Daniel Radcliffe spills the beans on what he has slowly hinted at in interviews for years:

I'm an atheist, but I'm very relaxed about it. I don't preach my atheism, but I have a huge amount of respect for people like Richard Dawkins who do. Anything he does on television I will watch." He laughs. "There we go Dan, that's half of America that's not going to see the next Harry Potter film on the back of that comment!

Indeed.

My childhood died a little today

Everyone has of course heard the sad and sudden occurrence of the death of Michael Jackson. This was just literally hours after 70's pinup legend Farrah Fawcett died of cancer.

I wasn't particularly enamoured of either of them. Fawcett did very little for me on the romantic side though she gave some pretty effective biting performances later in her career and I was a big fan of Charlie's Angels even if I was a little too young (and naive) to really see the 'jiggleness' of it all. Actually, I thought the show was a lot of fun and gave a portrayal of smart, empowered women who took very little crap. They thought their way out of trouble and only pulled out the guns when they were necessary.

Later in her career, she hit it big with some terrific television roles that finally gave her a lot of acclaim she deserved. The pin-up finally became a serious actress though she stumbled somewhat on a botched appearance on Letterman that kept the masses guessing as to her mental or physical health.

Jackson was a staple of the eighties and thriller was simply a juggernaut of popular culture. That classic album's enormous impact is due to two important factors: Jackson's talent for catchy melody and the burgeoning growth of the music video format and MTV.

Unfortunately, Jackson's eccentricity started working against him. It was hard to believe this was the same loveable and seemingly stable young performer who appeared in The Wiz alongside Diana Ross.

They both will be missed.
